Wan of a Kind... is back!
Dear friends
I'm back - from the other side... though not quite, because I was never really there.
When we took the painful decision to remove and archive Wan of a Kind last April 2016, my intent was to contribute actively to SKM's new editorial site, The Pride. And though I did manage a piece (and the editors also republished another that I wrote for a local paper) in its earliest days, it turned out to be just unrealistic to keep up with a more frequent, more current format with tight deadlines.
In a way, I am glad that happened.
For one, I am happy and proud to say that The Pride has now found its own solid footing, with its dedicated team of editors and writers serving up fresh thought-provoking perspectives with honesty, humour and hope 2-3 times a week.
At the same time, it freed me up to provide more input and guidance to my hard-working SKM team. I was able to contribute to many kindness-related causes on the ground beyond SKM including publishing four books: Towards a Kind and Gracious Society: A Christian Perspective on Being Good Neighbours (Dec 2016) for the Ethos Institute, My Best with Honour (July 2017) for the Singapore Scout Association, Clearly Different: Dyscovering the Differences (July 2017) for the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and Born in ’47: A Life in Writing (June 2017), a selection of my published writing.*
It has been a very busy and fulfilling year.
Yet, I feel some obligation to some of you who have indicated that you do miss my personal blog and have requested that I consider blogging again.
So here I am! To those of you who have been asking, as my team sometimes likes to tell me, "Be careful what you wish for"! Seriously, I am grateful for your appreciation of what I have to share.
I hope that what I have to say here - perhaps once or twice a month - will inspire you to practice random acts of kindness and contribute to the ground-up movement for kindness. After all, kindness - it's up to us!
Here’s wishing you a meaningful celebration of our National Day on August 9th – Majulah Singapura!
Best always,
William
